Screened Porch Ideas
Now that summer is really heating up, we spend so much time on our screen porch. Let me share with you how I added a few new items to my existing decor to create an inviting outdoor space, without breaking the bank!
We had a beautiful granite table with 6 chairs a friend had given us, but the kids are getting older so we are spending less time eating meals on the screened porch and more time relaxing with a cold beverage. So we moved the table downstairs and kept the chairs on the porch. The all-weather wicker has held up beautifully. I chose to replace the chair cushions because the originals were used as chew toys by our dogs. Since they are ridiculously expensive I opted to purchase outdoor throw pillows instead of full dining chair cushions that sell for at least $20.00 each. I purchased 6 new pillows, 3 solid blue which were about $5.00 each and 3 striped that were my favorite but little more like $9.00 each. Still seemed like a success only spending $42.00 on 6 outdoor chair cushions.
To create an inviting outdoor space you really, really need an all-weather rug to define the area. I was lucky to find this beauty in my favorite colors at Southeastern Salvage for $39.00! Yeah you heard me right, most outdoor rugs sell for $50.00-$200.00 depending on the size.
I am very cheap when it comes to home decor, our taste changes so often I hate to invest any real amount of money into decor. ~The twisted wood orbs are from Southeastern Salvage as well and ranged in price from $5.00-$7.50 each depending on the size. ~I purchased this really cool atrium style lantern that I added candles to, it was about $50.00. Some stores sell similar lanterns anywhere from $200-$250 for this size!
Needing somewhere to place a cool drink I took an old end table that was just waiting for new purpose and tried my hand at chalk paint for the first time!
A quick stop to the local Salvation Army and can you believe I found/saved this wicker coffee table for $10.00, I just spray painted to it to match everything else.
With a little creativity and less than $200 we are all set for some sunporch sittin’ this summer, are you? Share with me your porch ideas!
